Bruckner has won the Independent Spirit Award as "Best female part" for her performance. The actress was born with three siblings: one brother as well as two siblings. They regularly studied Hungarian to keep her fluency. Bruckner was born in Hollywood California to a Hungarian father as well as an Russian mother. She has since divorced her paternal grandfather was German. The couple met in Hungary and immigrated to the U.S. in 1984 through an asylum camp in Italy. She is the mother of two sisters, and a brother.
